Chapter 2
PROLOGUE

PROLOGUE
To paraphrase William Shakespeare from ‘A midsummer night’s
dream’

“Quince: There are three kinds of people in the world;

The first kind, believe what they see; they prefer to experience life as it
unfolds, holding preconceived ideas in check until observations make all
things plain. If you belong to this tribe, a prologue or preface might spoil
some of the fun of figuring things out for yourself. I advise to skip it all
together and proceed without delay.

The second kind, see what they believe; they prefer to experience life
with structure, preconceived expectations providing a plane from which to
make observations. If this is your family, I scribe this prologue to provide such
a vantage point.

The third kind, do not believe that seeing is worth the effort; they have
skipped the prologue already, presuming that it is merely the conventional
place for the author to thank his cronies for their invaluable support. If you
are of this ilk, I need say nothing to you at all.”

Shakespeare thought deeply of life and of human nature.

But, what kind of people am I, I wondered? I seem to believe that which
I see. Yet I have expectations of what I will see. I am critical of other’s
disproof. What kind of people am I, I wondered? I wondered deeply and
wondered again.

Then, in the spot of my mind where a vision could form, lights fell upon
me. They dazzled and charmed me. Voices entered my being and soothed my
wonder. They showed me of the beginning and the making of Life. I saw the
start and the ending to be. I saw the reason for humanity.

I had a Vision.

A Vision so grand, it left my being reeling to my core. I saw more to life,
than living can bring. I saw a future, bonded to the past. I witnessed each life
form existing, because of the past. I saw in the past so very near, and yet long,
long ago. I thought I knew past. Past is not as I knew. All manner of existence,
I saw it so clear. I felt dimensions I knew of, but that’s not all that there are.
And, time is quite different, you know. I saw in the beginning and as
Shakespeare tried to say;

‘There lived beasts among beasts. They all lived and died in fear. They
lived in fear of the darkness that harbours terrors unseen. They lived in fear
of the numbing cold which lulls them to sleep everlasting. They lived in fear of
the tooth and the claw, which hound them both in wakes, and in dreams. No
animal lived without fear. Death came to all.’

In my Vision, I saw a pair of rather familiar looking animals roaming the
dangerous lands one scorching earlier day. They were slower than a lion,
much smaller than an elephant, and weaker than a gorilla. Naked and
vulnerable they survived the same as everyone else, by finding enough to eat,
until being eaten in their turn.

If they could just survive a little longer, they might just live long enough
to begat children, to take their turn at the cyclical feast. And so it might have
continued for another eternity, as it did before, were it not for the Codes. It
all began with a simple spark. And the world changed forever. I saw it all.

A spark stumbled and fluttered about. The spark met dry tinder. A soft
breeze blew, and in the blink of an eye, the world turned crazy. Flames licked
high into the sky and animals rushed frantically to and fro, trying to escape
certain death. Smoke then filled the air with a peculiar odour. Not all got
away.

The spark had become a fire and the pair of animals saw it. They saw
cold air turned warm, and flames lit the night. Food lie in front of them, not
running, not trying to escape. The food was hot, seasoned by the charcoal,
and easy to eat. They saw predators ran away from the flames.

The pair of animals pondered its meaning and a bright idea was born. An
idea, that existence could be made better. An idea that cold could be
controlled, that food could be enhanced, that fear could be dispelled, and
light could shine in the darkness.

This, is where they started. The greatest wonder appeared as a spark,
now started with no known end, and many pathways to follow. Many ideas of
what could be, and a grand Vision emerged. I saw that this pair of animals
was really quite different. This pair of animals had learned the Codes. The
Codes that make all things, and that make all things happen.

This pair survived through danger and terror and attacks on their lives.
They were bonded together in a new way. They were bonded together of love
and a great reason to be.

They conquered the wild and tamed the beasts. They grew foods and
made stores of needs. They built their survival through their use of the Codes.
The Codes that make everything happen. They were learning where the
Codes could take them.

More Ideas came and their Vision grew. Their Vision became a mission
to provide sanctuary for their children to be. They learned that, the of love is
everlasting, and cannot be destroyed.

As their Vision grew, they survived and had children of strong Vision.
Each child was born of love, with a grand reason to be. They made happy
through their treacherous journey called life, and their children would spread
their Vision throughout all the lands.

I saw the beginning and the reason it must be. I saw the substance and
the reason it is. I saw the life and the reason it must be. I saw the meaning of
good and of love. I saw the greatest reward for it all. I saw Paradise and the
reason it must be.

I had a Vision.
